Title: Newbie Questions
Post by: 1kickerfish on April 04, 2011, 02:42:16 PM
New to Hummingbird, love the units, and I have a couple general questions.
1. Does the 998c have a time of day alarm?  I have become accustomed to having a time of day alarm set as a reminder on tournament days.  Standard on the Low units, but I cannot find on the 998c menu.
2. I updated my units when purchased in February, but day light savings time was late to update. Is this an issue or just me?
3. Is there any benifit to purchasing a lake card over the preinstalled maps?  The maps that came with the units look really good.
Thanks in advance. Mike

Mike,
1. No the Humminbird units do not have a time of day alarm.  Maybe you should add this to the Humminbird Wish List on this web site.

2. Daylight Savings Time is manually updated in the units.  Not all states use DST.

3. Yes, the lake maps normally have much higher detail.  Make sure the lake that you are wanting is listed though because not all mapping cards will have all lakes on them.  Also the LakeMaster mapping cards (if these cover your area) have additional features that our units can interact with, such as highlighting shallow water and offsetting the depth contour lines to the actual lake level.
