1197 is in, tested and approved.
Screen is much bigger so I can read it better on my boat.
800 khZ not of much use at 30mtr depth salt water.
When you don't need the size, the cannonlink or navionics platinum, then the 987 is great.

So you did it Hendrik!
I hope you keep the 987 and do not convert to the show off fraction with their flat screen cinemas on their boats :).

Hendrik,
Any chance for a 987 versus 1197 Si sonar comparison? I know that many have asked whether the older 262kHz Si sonar works better than the newer 455kHz Si sonar in deeper and salt water (we have neither here in Eufaula, AL.). Maybe you could provide a side-by-side comparison for us?
[Not trying to make you more jelous here Harry, just would like to hear this from a non-Humminbird Employee.]

It will be difficult to fix both transducers to one extendable pole but:
I'm thinking of an extra transducer on an extendable pole at the other side of the boat if the ducer won't fit under the intermediate of the outdrive.
So that would make it possible when the 987 is still here, but .... the cables of the transducers are to short and I have only one extension cable.
Maybe I can do 4 1197 testruns a the same spots and directions with:
SI ducer at 262 kHz
SI ducer at 455
HDSI ducer at 455
HDSI ducer at 800
1 fresh water 10-15 ft
1 salt water 10-15 ft
1 salt water 30-50 ft
This can take a while, maybe somewhere in oktober when the boat is back to it's "home" harbour

Harry,
I can now look at the screen and out of the screen at the same time.
This is a lot safer for other people.
I am indeed thinking of a 80 inch LED screen to mount behind or on top of the wheelhouse, so anybody can enjoy.
I only need some advertisement then built in in the 1197, so I can promote the unit, the t-shirts, myself etc in between showing the charts and the bottom structure.
Hope the new Icast software features this and the video out cable can bridge a distance of 5 meters

Strange Hendrik,
I was thinking about exactly the same idea.
Getting the images out to a flat screen so everybody on board can see what's going on below.
And offer Wreck Watching trips with the boat, like Whale Watching in California: "And now Ladies and Gentlemen, to the left: A 6 m sail boat, laying on its portside like asleep! What a sight!!" :) just kidding...
The main reason for a 1197 for me is to see more details without hugging the screen. I'll change the current location of the head unit from the dash to the ceiling to get it closer to my eyes and see more. This way people on board can watch the screen as well while standing behind me. I also noticed that the unit blocks part of the sight in the current location while cruising and I don't like it that way. Another issue is the glare of the sun. I think having it mounted above will reduce this issue a bit.
But getting a shirt for advertising HB is apparently not as easy as one thinks. I asked Ian and hoped that he can break loose a HB shirt and a Baseball Cap from Johnson's, but no success.
If you need an extension cable Hendrik, let me know and send me your address. I have one here and will lend it to you. I don't need for now, because I'll change the position of the head unit later in winter. Until then you can have it.
@Greg: Just send a 1197 or 997 over. I'll do the comparison for free ;)! And in case I'll find "The Holy Bomber" while comparing, a box of champagne will be in the return parcel. Now how does that sound??

Hmmm, I would but since I don’t drink I don’t see the point… ???
Wish I could get some shirts or hats for you guys but nothing moves in and out of Johnson without someone’s account being billed for it and my department does not have an account for anything like this. With the economy over here being so tight these items are harder to come by.

Sending the cable forth and back would cost te same as buying one, thanks for the offer though.
I'll think of something.
Seen a screen of 2x3 metres for outdoor use. Maybe they have it in 12V

:o ? ? ? Have you purchased an aircraft carrier lately and I don't know about it? ? ? ?
A 2x3 metres screen would sink my ship (boat)!!!
That was a good one Hendrik! ;)

Same story everywhere all over the world Greg.
But no problem if we get our own shirts set up.

987 is sold to Germany.
Navionics gold is sold in the Netherlands
Ordered a navionics platinum+ 25P in the United Kingdom
Can't get rid of the tru hull 265/455 khz ducer, so I start a towfish project

Wow!
Good idea Hendrik. With Rickard also here on the site, it will turn out as a sonar torpedo factory :).
Good luck and let us know how it works

Now I have another challenge.
Connecting the by Y cable to 2 HDSI transomducers and change by a flick of a switch to the towfish.
I hope I can fool the 1197 by using the 455 kHZ and then change ducers.
Otherwise I have to changeover to the 262/455 in the menu.
