Can someone tell me what I need to do to get the side image to stop washing out like screen shot below. I have used default settings and have used both compact transducer that came with unit and have bought new hd transducer and same results.  I have heard or read others having to send in to get fix.  Chart speed is 1 and running 455.  Have it at bow and running on Minn Kota Edge 70.  Doesn't seem to matter what sensitivity I use its all washed out or white screen looking.

You did not say how fast you were moving and I did not see it on your screen shot.

1. The issue some were having with wash out was only with 800 kHz.
 
2.Turn the sensitivity down. The harder the bottom the brighter it will be & the softer the bottom the darker it will be. ( hard bottom turn down sensitivity). ( soft bottom turn up sensitivity).

3. You said it's on your trolling motor so make sure your screen scroll is set to match the speed you are moving. (example if boat is moving 2 mph set screen scroll to 2.

4. There is not a set and forget setting for your very best images you will always have to adjust your settings according to depth & bottom hardness.

5. Remember that side imaging does not work when sitting still.
