Fixed - Installer Error was (New install, Doesn't see GPS)
« on: March 10, 2010, 12:53:53 AM »
Hey everyone,

Just installed the bow mount 898 tonight.  Went into System Status screens and it did not see the GPS.

The GPS is connected to the NMEA portion of the Y-cable and my Interlink is connected to the ACCY portion of the Y-cable.

It sees the Interlink module but does not see the GPS puck.

Any suggestions?

Hy Stymie.
Try to attach GPS module directly without a Y-cable and look that will be. Either contacts, or the module.

What Chiboo said plus make sure that your boat is outside so the GPS Receiver has a clear view of the satellites.

If it still does not work than see if you can find someone else with a Humminbird and test your unit with their GPS Receiver.

Thanks for the suggestions. It was just a loose connection at the connector, apparently it had backed off somehow when I put it together.  All is well now.

Also, just wanted to mention that this thing sees the satellites in my garage with the garage door down.

Now ain't that cool!

I'll be heading out to the water tomorrow to check it out.

the GPS is great.  I can see the satelites in our shop and it has two stories above it.  In the past the lowrance unit would or could lose GPS when going under trees that were leaved out.  I have not seen this with the HB.  HB is on track for a pat on the back.   Chuck

I'm there with you sonar2k, I just powered my 798 up in my garage where my Lowrance lgc3k wouldn't lock my HB was on.
