898c update messed up unit
« on: July 26, 2014, 03:25:30 PM »
Hi, I have 2 898c si combos with I pilot link. I down loaded  7.090. Now when I pilot is connecting it shuts off units. Fish finders work when not connected. I also tried downloading older updated sand they do not even register when I put sad card in unit. Please help as this is a lot of money to me and I am so flustered. Thank you for reading

Did you resetting all defaults after the update?  If not, worth a try.

Yeah I reset them. I'm thinking when I did the update the I pilot was not on or connected yet to fish finder as far as communicating.

I replied on your pm Bob.  Not sure why the older software would not be recognized by the unit.  I assume you used the same SD card that you used to update the 898 units with, correct?  Maybe try fully formatting the SD card and re-downloading the software to try it again.  I really think though that you should work with the Humminbird Customer Center (CRC) folks on this though as I have read where there were different things needed to get the iPilot Link Controller and Remote to update their software.
