Question about SI and 360 recordings
« on: March 22, 2014, 01:10:08 AM »
During my last outing, I made 13 separate recordings while ice fishing. Although there was some type of recording problem, I found one that recorded more that just a few seconds. Something I must have been doing caused the problems. Anyhow, I was able to convert the one file into .XTF format and viewed it on Deep Vision. It was very very strange, to say the least, but after viewing it over and over, I got to wondering if it was recording BOTH the SI pings, AND the 360 pings, so that they overlapped in the recording.....like dubbing 2 tracks of music over top each other so you can hear both tracks at the same time.

I wondered this because I believe what I am seeing is not only SI images, like my jig movement, but I also see alternating repetitive images, first on the left, then on the right! In these images, they appear like bottom structures, and in particular one bottom structure (a donut shape) that I distinctly recall seeing on the 360 image with each revolution.

I know one thing that will be on my next "test" recording will be to activate/deactivate the 360 to see if it effects the SI recording, and, if I can figure out if/how to do it, I'll run the 360 only, and remove the SI!!!!

Too bad the ice is rotting and has become very unsafe.......fell through last time out......I'll have to wait till it's all gone then go anchor myself out there to run tests.

If any experts......Greg et.al........have any input I'd really like to hear it!!!!!!

Thanks so much in advance.

BTW I'd be happy to send anyone a copy of the .XTF file so you can see the mess!!! LOL

OK ...so I'll copy and paste my reply from your other thread with the same question...

It is my understanding that the 360 data cannot be recorded because the 360 is considered an Ethernet accessory in the overall system....

Likewise if the unit was set to view SI and DI from the 360 piezo's ...those views would also be from an Ethernet accessory...

If you actually got the unit into the Recording function while the 360 was operating...I have no idea what data the unit would be trying to record...because I'm pretty sure the SI piezoes in the HDSI xducer are shut off when the 360 is operating...
