New to towfish and I want to try it.
« on: July 14, 2013, 03:08:06 PM »
I will be using a 997 c SI. If I understand correctly I will have to remove the piezo unit(s) from compatible transducers.

Herein is my problem. I have some used transducers, a couple old Humminbird TCR 101s, a couple Eagles and one that I cannot identify. It is older, says Humminbird on the mount, but has a round 7 pin plug. Here are some pictures and if you have any idea what it is or model I would sure appreciate knowing. I just hate to have to buy a new one and tear it up.

Thanks for looking.

I also posted this in a slightly different manner in the "General discussion" forum, and I'm hoping I didn't make a site mistake, If so - I apologize.

No, you don't have to do anything else than extending the transducer cable. Things you may have read about removing piezo elements have to do with experiments (quite successful) with transducers with better resolution. The standard transducer with a long cable (about 150 feet) gives good results with no other modifications.

Thanks. I've seen pictures here with the transducer mounted on the bottom of a couple of them. Thanks for the input.

There are a couple places that I want to investigate with a much closer scan. I have screen shots of where my mother went to school in 1935 and has been under 140' of water since 1949 in Bull Shoals lake. Jones point school.

Incidentally, I just found out that the transducer in question is a Humminbird Dimension 3 probably a SHS-7, circa 1990.
