Non-SI Units - SI Upgrade Path for Equivelent
« on: October 21, 2009, 05:16:17 PM »
Model:
798c
Suggested Upgrade:
SI Upgrade Path for Equivelent non-SI Units
Explanation:
Note: Model input above did not allow for non-SI units.

For non-SI units, such as the 788c offer an upgrade kit to add SI functionality.  The kit would include SI transducer and S/W.  It should be priced about 100 more than if you bought the SI equivlent unit in the first place.   This would entice current HB owners to just upgrade vs consider other options, and others to favor selecting a non-SI HB choice.  ie the current competition hooks them with the puchase of a HDS unit.

I will admit that I do not know if the current electronics are 100% the same, but they are probably not that much different.  I bet that the marketing dept has already asked for this.  :)

FuzzyGrub,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will update the form to allow for other units.  Non-SI, Matrix, etc.

JohnS,
This is not a possibility with our current non-Si units as they do not posses the circuitry to transmit and receive the Si sonar signal.  It’s not just a matter of having the software and transducer; there has to be the correct circuitry to support the Si sonar as well.  Now maybe if we start producing non-Si units with an Ethernet connection and offer a Si module, transducer and software like some others are trying to do – well that’s a different story than.

Still the same: good suggestion anyways and yes I bet the Marketing folks have already asked for this!
