When attempting to open files on HumminbirdPC, program closes and I am back on desktop. This is on windows 10 and was working well until the mega-windows 10 update this year. Humviewer does the same thing. Am I doing something wrong or missing some kind of work around?

I have HB pc and win 10 installed. Received the big win 10 update and HB pc still works.
Possibly you might uninstall HB pc - reboot the computer - and reinstall HB pc.

Windows 10 introduced some incompatibilities with old applications that are graphics intensive. I haven't tried Humminbird PC but several of my other apps have had problems. You can change how windows runs the application by right clicking on the .exe and selecting "Properties", and then the "Compatibility" tab. Then either run the "compatibility troubleshooter" or experiment with the different settings.

Neither of these work-arounds did any good. Still same result, program opens fine, but as soon as I try and open a file.... it goes back to the desktop!

I have Windows 10 and have Hunminbird PC and Humviewer running. I probably had to change some folder permissions for Humviewer.

Thanks for your replies...... folders show full permissions so nothing to change. Programs work fine on my old, slow Vista machine, but no good on Windows 10..... even when you switch compatibility mode to Vista. Really has me stumped since it had worked well prior to that d*md update.

I was finally able to get HBPC 4.6.1 running on my Mac using Parallels virtual machine running Windows 11. I had to set the Properties>>Compatibility settings to Win98 and low resolution graphics to get it to work. Otherwise the app would acknowledge double clicking on it to launch but nothing would display on the screen and it would close itself down. Hope this helps those with similar challenges.
