Transfer Way Points To I-Pilot
« on: October 25, 2011, 11:59:26 PM »
I heard a cruel rumor that there was a way to transfer way points from fish finder to Terrova I- Pilot. Is this possibly or is someone dreaming?

As far as I know, it is just a wish list item.

Waypoints, hell, I want to transfer a track to it.

Not gonna happen until I invest in the iPilot - then it will be available in the iPilot2 within a few months, LOL.

ya love my ipilot but for sure would be heaven if I could map out a route without having to traverse it first.

Also to have a link to my sonar or if its could have an enhanced screen on the remote to graphically show your saves tracks and anchor settings along with where you are along it as I find I get confused especially if the ipolit seems to be over correcting.

With the lake Ive been using this the most I seldom get to set a fully desired track as I either get a fish on or get snagged and have to interrupt the setting then try to resume. This is doable but takes experience.

ie 1/3 into a track myself or fishing buddy gets snagged. I need to pause the recording and immediately mark the location on the GPS, before navigating back to the snag. Then once we clear the snag, return to the GPS location and resume the recording. But sometimes I accidentaly lose the pause status on the i-pilot.

Im sure some very simple software upgrade could take away all this hassle.  For instance give an "append feature" so you go back and retrieve your snag or fight your fish and then select the track you were recording and follow it to the end and then hit the append feature!!!! Amazing idea eh!  they could allow you to appened to any track. or modify like if you are half way through following a track and since you are reaching the place where you always gety snagged (like when using a bottom bouncers) and you want to make a slight detour at that location.)

Of course one would say if Im stopping to cath fish all the time then I should be happy right!! yes true!! But just once Id like to lay out the whol track and then just sit back on auto pilot the whole. As it stands the only way I can assure that is if I take a path and record it but keep my line in the boat and no way Im gonna do that my first run and should not have to if humminbird would add my suggestion :). Next time hire me as a consultant in new product designs and we will get simple features like this in the first release :) lol

I guess we can only dream for now but it would be nice to have. I can see selecting a way point. Hit the go to button and while your getting the poles reday it takes you to the spot. Then just drop your bait into the water.
