Waypoints/Routes on sd card
« on: April 20, 2012, 12:49:18 AM »
I'm trying to help my buddy but I'm lost as to what if anything he can do to save his waypoints/routes. He has 2 units...788c & 788ci. He purchased the Interlink Network but didn't connect it until he had dowloaded all of his waypoints/routes onto a sd card. Then he erased everything from both units & connected the Interlink instructing it to start participating exchanging waypoints/routes w/both units...nada - nothing happened. Since he's never used sd cards, it turns out he mistakingly downloaded doubles and triples of all of his waypoints/routes. We tried to clear up the problem but couldn't. So he called Humminbird Support was told that he could correct the info on the sd card by connecting his card reader to his computer...insert the sd card & follow the steps Humminbird listed. By following the steps on the Humminbird website...his sd card could be corrected thru the Internet. I went online to Humminbird  and have no idea as to what he's talking about. Does anybody know if you can clean up a sd card on the Internet thru Humminbird or has he lost all of his waypoints/routes?

Is he using Humminbird PC? I would think that he could edit or delete the waypoints if he has PC.  If he somehow formatted the card after he had downloaded his waypoints to the card, then he probably lost them.

I'm getting better w/computers but my buddy is lost on  a computer. When you asked "is he using Humminbird PC...when you sign in on Humminbird to check for software updates...is that where he'll find "PC"?

Yes, if he has his units registered then the Humminbird PC will show up as an available download. He has to download that and then he will be able to use 'PC' to view what he has on his SD card

Thanks Ibloch...I can't believe I never picked up on that. But I knew if there was a way to find out how to do this...Humminbird Sideimaging was the place to get the answers. I was going to suggest to you that I'd like to say thanks properly by taking you out for a day of fishing...but when I checked where you live...w/me in Chicago that ain't happening. So I'll just say thanks again. Dennis.

You're welcome and thanks for the offer to go fishing. Hope it works for you and I hope your buddy didn't lose all his waypoints.  Good Luck
