Newbie Question about SS coverage
« on: August 24, 2011, 06:07:39 PM »
I'm waiting for my 1198 to arrive and I have a basic question. How wide a swath can I scan in 10 ft of water?

In a perfect scenario, you can scan up to 240' on each side at 455khz.  Less at 800khz.

Here are a few topics to read up on.

Thanks, 130 degrees @ 800 khz. Now if I could just figure out Pythagorean theory for a 10 ft depth :).

Well, good rule of thumb for 800khz is 3 to 4 times your depth.  So lets say a max of 40' at 800khz.

Use Sin/Cos to figure mathematically.
