Helix 5 sonar+gps erratic depth reading?
« on: May 18, 2016, 11:46:44 PM »
I've recently purchased a new boat, came with the Helix 5 sonar+gps.

While under way, around 30mph, my depth reading is bouncing all over the place, from 1ft to over 300ft at times and I'm only in about 5ft of water.
The sensor seams to be in the proper orientation, installed by the boat manufacture.

Any ideas?

Erratic high speed depth readings are usually caused by turbulent aerated water across the face of the transducer.  You could try lowering it just a tad and see if that helps.

**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**
