2 Different Maps On Split Screen With Onix?
« on: September 07, 2015, 11:17:58 AM »
My system consists of an  Onix 10 si, an Onix 8 ci, & a MK Terrova I Pilot Link all plugged into the Ethernet.  I do a lot of trolling for walleye on steep drop offs where position accuracy is critical to precise bait depth & location.

For mapping on the lakes that I fish, I have a Lake Master HD I Pilot Link compatible chip & a Navionics  Platinum chip.  The Lake Master chip has 3 foot contour intervals, while the Navionics has 1 foot level detail.

Since there are 2 card slots in each of the Onix units, is there a way to view the Lake Master map & the Navionics map simultaneously on one of the Onix units in a multi pane view?

The rational for this is that for these lakes, the Navionics map is more accurate in general & also more detailed with the 1 foot depth lines.  However, when trolling, I am primarily using the Lake Master chip to "Follow The Contour" with the Terrova.  What I would like to do is follow the contour with the Terrova in one pane view  while monitoring the Navionics chart in another pane to make manual corrections to the Terrova for more precise control where it is necessary to do so.

There is no way to do this.

I think that all the map card capable Humminbird units are designed to recognize
only one map card at a time.

That is what I thought.  A slightly different approach.  Is it possible to view the Lake Master chip on one of the Onix units & the Navionics chip on the second Onix while the 2 units are connected via the Ethernet switch?  Or does the Ethernet connection make the units behave as a single mapping system ?

I have no idea.
That would be a question best answered by Greg at Humminbird.
You could also call Humminbird customer service (1-800-633-1468) and ask them.

With the Ethernet in play they behave as one mapping unit.  Been there, tried that   :)

I install on the side and I haven't seen any brand that will do that yet. It would be handy though.
