In placing transducer, how much distace is required between transom and rudder or lower unit to allow unfettered SI beam to function?

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums steve reid.

For which Si transducer is this space for?
The CSi transducer needs five inches or clearance.
The HDSi transducer needs seven inches or clearance.

Thanks for your response and the info.
have installed a  XNT-9-SI-180-T  transducer supporting a 698 HD SI unit on an aluminum boat. The transducer is mounted as per instructions on the port side of the lower edge of the transom. the transducer is level and the mid line of the transducer is just below the bottom of the boat.

The boat is powered only by electric trolling motor on the bow, but requires a rudder on the stern to provide directional stability ( especially in wind or when  drifting).

I do not wish to mount the rudder in such a way as to interfere with the side imaging.

So, how much space should exist between the trailing edge of the boat bottom and the leading edge of the rudder to permit un fettered tranasducer SI action?

Thanks for any further info you may provide.

The XNT-9-Si-180-T transducer is the Compact Side Imaging (CSi) transducer, so five inches should give you enough clearance.

Greg,
Many thanks for your kind and speedy response.  I can now construct and mount the rudder and will allow the 5 inches you have suggested.
Steve
