I do not know anything about the hydrodynamics of water
moving past/through pontoon boats.

Hopefully someone who does will chime in here.

My two cents judging by the picture you supplied:
I'd put the transducer dead center of the pontoon.
Maybe a little lower than the bottom of the pontoon.
I think you're going to get lots water turbulence coming off the
pontoon.  It seems to me, the very bottom of the
pontoon will be in the deepest water, and is
less likely to aerate (add air bubbles) to the water.

Sonar doesn't shoot through air bubbles very well.

Also, don't jump the gun and figure the first place you choose is
the best.  You may have to experiment, and move the transducer
several times to find the very best sweet spot.

I wonder how much air-rated water you will get due to that stringer you have circled?  Like IT spoke of you may get below it in clean water,  with that spring back at least the worries of striking something will not be as bad as the regular mount.  They've been known not to release due to over tightening or just out of adjustment. Seems the shots I've seen from toons always show some interference left or right.

When are you going to be able to put it on the water for some screen shots?
Tell them I've gone fishing!

Thanks for the feed back that's what I am trying to figure out. If I put it in the center I think it will be a little more protected. The spring back puts me out another inch which I have plenty of room plus more protected on the trailer.hope to put in the water this weekend. will put pictures when I do.have posted. pictures before on here. Thanks again
