hbpc doesn't find my waypoints on my sd card
« on: June 12, 2012, 08:56:24 PM »
i have hb pc 4.3.3 , when i try to upload  from my sd card to pc, there is a popup that says "there is no waypoints, tracks or route"    Why?  is it because hb pc searches only for gpx files? If so how do you save stuff in gpx format to ur sd card?

when i record with my 798ci hd si,  it saves it in the .son format on my sd card, and when i MARK stuff it saves it in .png format,   how do you save stuff in the gpx format?

- i can see my recordings in humviewer and screenshots in windows picture viewer
- Are the .gpx files created when  you press "export all navigation data" on your unit??

Waypoints, tracks and Routes are saved internally within your Humminbird unit.  You have to select to “Export” them to an SD/SDHC memory card before you can download them to your computer.

Once on the SD card and with it installed in your computer with HumminbirdPC running: you have to “Download” the data from the SD card (not use the Open function).

The unit saves the Nav Data (waypoints, tracks and routes) as a DATA.HWR file.  This HWR file format is read by HumminbirdPC and can be saved as a GPX file.  When HumminbirdPC uploads Nav Data to an SD card it converts the GPS file data to the DATA.HWR file format.

I am having a similar problem using a 597 ci hd di unit.

I can view all my files fine in humviewer but when I open HMPC (v 4.2.2) it says there is nothing on the card.

I made sure to save tracks etc to the sd card before shutting the unit down and its saved the .son files in the record folder and the .dat files in the route of the SD card.

I dont have the option in my unit to export or save all data??

Greg - can you help please??

Thanks in advance

Rich

Rich,
What files are you viewing using the HummViewer software?
The HumminbirdPC program cannot view or display the sonar recordings.  It can only show the data from waypoints, routes and tracks.

The Export function will be in one of two places:
(Older software) under the Nav tab in the main menu system, look for the “Export All Nav Data” menu.  Make sure that the unit is in the “Advanced” User Mode.

(Newer software) under the Nav tab in the main menu system:
•   Open the “Waypoints, Routes, Tracks” menu.
•   Use the Up Arrow to highlight the “Options” menu.
•   Use the Right Arrow to open this menu.
•   Use the Down Arrow to highlight the “Select All and…” menu.
•   Use the Right Arrow to open this menu.
•   Use the Down Arrow to highlight “Export”.
•   Use the Right Arrow to activate this menu.
•   Use the Right Arrow to select “Yes” to confirm that you do want to overwrite any navigation data already on the memory card.

I actually helped review them at one time Rich.

This was a menu change that came with the Waypoint Management software and so may have happened after the manual to your unit was printed or copied to the CD.  Send me a direct e-mail and I can hook you up with a pdf file of the current manual that will have this and the other menu additions.
