Post by: FISHINLAWYER on June 07, 2015, 12:06:14 PM
What KHz is everyone using for their onix? When is one better than the other?

I don't have an Onix, but the best images I have seen people are using 455 Khz for SI and 800 Khz for DI......That way interference and the SI "tunnel" effect is almost eliminated.

As for a 2D, I don't know how good the 200/83 works on the Onix, but if it work well I would be doing that with fish ID turned on.

I use 800kHz for Onix SI and 455kHz for Onix DI ...

I prefer the greater detail obtained with the 800kHz in SI because my interest is in targets closer to the boat ...

I only use 455kHz SI when I'm in new water looking for new structure ...so that I can see objects out to the edges of the display where I can drop a waypoint on them ...

Then I re-position the boat to rescan those waypoints at 800kHz ...
