Title: Saving Waypoints as Spot Lock points,
Post by: geemul on September 14, 2014, 06:53:54 AM
Hello Team,
I've imported a heap of Waypoint and Spot Lock points into HumminbirdPC with the view to renaming them from the default.

Problem is when the points are transferred back to the SD card and saved onto the sounder they all become Waypoint files and will not work as Spot Lock points.

Can I save them back as Spot Lock or is this it?

Do I have to do it the slow way and rename them on the sounder?

Thanks,
Geoff

Did you also change the icon used for the Spot Lock points?
I don't think that the current version of HumminbirdPC has the Spot Lock icon as a possible icon to choose from; so you may have to rename them in the unit or set the icons back to the Spot Lock icons after you have imported them back into the unit when using HumminbirdPC.

Hello Greg,
I did actually change the icons in HumminbirdPC to little fish.
I twigged to this maybe being the issue yesterday after I posted the above question.

You are correct, Ver 4.3.8 of HumminbirdPC doesn't appear (to my eyes) to have the Spot Lock icon in its set.

If you import the SLxxx points into HumminbirdPC you get the below icons and that is what the software sends them back to the SD card and ultimately the sounder as well.

For the moment I think I'm better off editing Spot Lock points in the sounder than in the software.

I wasn't able to find the Spot Lock icon on my 798 to put next to the points I want to have this feature either. (I tried this on the river on Saturday when I worked out I'd lost my Spot Locks)
I have Version 7.120 firmware ready to be installed in my 798CI SI HD's and Version 2.070 firmware for my I-Pilot Link Controller and Version 2.020 for my remote.

I also have a problem with my Minnkota iPilot Link which I believe is either battery or hot joint related. It works great on the lower speeds and up to about 8.
Once you try and run at 10 (of which Spot Lock sometimes needs) it will just drop out. The "System Ready" green LED goes off, the remote says "Motor not found" both for about 5 seconds.
The green LED comes back on, the remote locates the motor and the cycle repeats.

I'll have some more of a play maybe tonight with the whole system.

Thanks Greg, much appreciated.

Time for an update here,

I looked at the configuration of Spot Lock points on the sounder that are working correctly.

They are all setup as type: Navigation and their icon is an anchor inside a Cyan hexagon.

So, I modified the non-working Spot Lock points using the sounder to match the working Spot Lock points.

Problem solved!

Thanks Greg for your input, worth its weight in gold!

Thanks for posting this Goeff. Your post and Greg's comment helped me also. I also believe I experienced the iPilot Spot Lock problem last weekend when the wind was strong and full power needed. I will be more observant the next time it is windy.
