Title: newbie navigation
Post by: tokerwashere on April 10, 2012, 11:02:50 PM
Looking for some help, common sense or tricks to understand how to navigate to a waypoint after arrival alarm. I can't seem to look at the screen and understand if the waypoint is in front of me, behind me, left or right. I have tried both course up and north up settings and neither seems better. I end up driving around in circles until it seems like moving toward waypoint, but there is a delay sometimes between actual boat direction and course direction arrow. This happens worse when zoomed all the way in on map. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks  :-[

Try turning on the Continuous Navigation Mode menu.  This will continue to give you direction to the waypoint.

Course Up is the best setting for those who are unfamiliar with using a chart to move to a waypoint as it shows everything from the perspective of the direction that the boat is moving.  So things shown to the left of the boat are to the left of the driver, things to the right…

Thanks HG, I will definitely give that a try. Pretty sure I had it on north up and CN mode off.
You guys are the best! ;D
