I'm going nuts here, I can download it to the desktop but it's in a perpetual loop when you try to open and run it just wants to unzip the file. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Mercman...
There have been different issues with downloading and installing HBPC. And with varying fixes depending on computers.
You might want to search the forum by using the tab at the top of the main menu for past posts.
You could also look in the forum hints and tips.
I dont know where all of these have been posted but certainly you might find you answer in past posts..

Thanks for the info, I've lurked here a while prior to buying my 1198 and haven't gotten a great handle on navigating the site in its entirety. I was able to get the program to download, but on my wife's user profile. The computer was set up with her being the "administrator" of the computer. Great one more arena I have to compete with her on ;) Got my Garmin waypoints converted and transferred. Having said that…I'm going to go off on a tangent. I loved the CD Rom of Garmin's Lakemaster software. Easy to manipulate and create waypoints on the computer and then download to the unit. I know that I can do that with waypoints now. I hated Lowrance's larger, single style of waypoints that took up too much area on the screen. Will I be able to duplicate Garmin's waypoint icons as well? I've seen some of HB's waypoints and didn't see a smaller icon but thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Glad you got it going. I believe that Admin rights are necessary for a lot of programs to install.
A lot of postings on waypoints/icons. So a search here would produce a lot of browsing.
Maybe someone who spends a lot of time with icons and the cross entering of waypoints can be of more help..
I think you might be stuck with the HB icon for now...but there are those who may know the whole process..
