Title: Trails disappear on 1197 after powering off??
Post by: Chad711 on September 05, 2011, 07:39:51 PM
I upgraded my buddies 1197 to most recent software. Now the trail that you see that you run on the lake disappear after you power off each time. I think these are what you call trails??

Only way to get them to save is to save current track and then of course it's there until you delete it.

How do I fix this?

Is the unit being powered off via it's power button or by killing it's power?

Do you have a battery switch and kill the power to it or disconnect it after you power it off?  Just shooting from the hip here, but I think the temporary memory is good only while it has power.  Once you disconnect it, if you have not saved the tracks, it will clear them.

I went out to my 997 right now and check the tracks I ran on Grapevine and they are on there still. I'm not talking about saving tracks, I'm talking about Current tracks. I believe the unit will auto save up to so many of these and then start to overwrite once you meet the max allowed. Those stay on there unless you clear them youself. Well for some reason on my buddies 1197 it's clearing them after the unit is powered off.

To be clear, my 997 has been disconnected from power the whole time and I just now checked it and the tracks are there. So disconnecting it from power completely does not clear the tracks.

I have an 1197 and have to clear the tracks manually.

When done fishing I shut my unit down via the on/off button, disconnect the plug from the unit and put the unit in my truck for transporting (it never stays on the boat when on the trailer).

The tracks are always there until I clear them manually, which is done the next time I go fishing.

Well, glad you guys could confirm that.  I wasnt shure and didn't have a unit handy to test it on.

Back to square one!
