Will placing my 998 SI with external gps next to another gps/fishfinder(Northstar-with external gps) that is already mounted in the boat cause either gps unit to lose signal from interference or should the antennae from both be separated ?Or is it possible that electrical interference alone from the the 998 cause the other unit to lose signal? Difficult to remove old unit as mounted into dash and different cut out holes!

It should not cause any gps issues unless the signal reception area is physically blocked. I run several different units side by side and have not noticed any problems. Chuck

Not sure - maybe Greg has input??
I have had trouble with my 798ciSI locking on the stars a few trips and it's within 2 feet of my 899ciHDSI and that is using the HS puck about 2' on the other side of the 798.
I have had to restart it of wait several minutes to get a lock.....
Wasn't like that before - maybe the 798's internal is starting the road to "croak" ???

It could be either one Robert. The only way to know for sure would be to physically separate them and see if it anything changes.
Ddono,
Chuck is right though: “It should not cause any gps issues unless the signal reception area is physically blocked” but we know it the real world that things do happen that are not always planned for. I would temporarily mount the 998 unit and GPS Receiver to check it. Be sure to run the cables as close to where they will actually be located as you can as this can influence the possibility of interference.
